Memorize Psalm 139: 17-18

From Thomas Weeks:
Did you know that the current estimates have 7.7 billion people residing here on earth? The United Nations expects that number to increase to 9.7 billion people by the year 2050. That’s a lot of people!
The verses we’ve been memorizing over the past few weeks tell us that our God is intimately acquainted with and sovereign over each of our lives. From before conception and onward, God is active among us. God is orchestrating all things, sustaining us moment by moment, bringing about His plans for us, and the list goes on. Now, consider that He not only does these innumerable things for you, He does them for all 7.7 billion people here on earth at the same time. Even more, let’s consider the incredibly large number of image bearers who have lived on the earth throughout history. Isn’t it too wonderful to fathom?! Our God can be intimately acquainted with each and every one of us! He hears our prayers, He leads and guides us, He comforts and strengthens us, and we have yet to ponder His thoughts toward the heavenly beings, animals, plants, stars, planets, galaxies, etc…
I love how these verses drive us to worship God for His magnificence, grandeur and sovereignty. Yet, if God were only these things and was not love, it would be terrifying. A sovereign being planning every single day of my life that doesn’t want my flourishing, that sounds awful. Thankfully, God is love! As John 3:16 informs us, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” Our God is sovereign and mighty and glorious, AND He loves us. He desires our flourishing, and He plans every single day of our life. May we rejoice in our God and Savior, who has revealed His great love for us, by sending His Son to die on a cross in our place.
Let’s memorize and be overwhelmed by the magnificence and love of our God and King.
