Memorize Hebrews 1:3-4

Hebrews 1:3-4
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds
the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at
the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the
name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
From Aaron Gray:
One of the most amazing things about Scripture is the robust strength God has woven
into it. Before humans walked this Earth, God knew all the lies, perversions, and untruths
that would be told about the Bible, and He built incredible strength into the threads of His
masterpiece.
One of the core doctrines the Bible teaches is that of the Trinity: God in three persons, in
eternal relationship, honoring each other and working together in beautiful harmony.
Over the years, many heresies have rejected this clear biblical teaching. Perhaps the most
prominent modern group are the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who claim that Jesus was Michael
the Archangel, and not God himself in flesh. But God put to rest this argument long
before mankind ever thought of it. In John 6:35, Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.”
That’s a deity claim. Then in John 10:30, Jesus says, & “I and the Father are one.” And
then in John 14:9, Jesus says, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.”
But the final settlement of the matter comes here in Hebrews, which explains a curious
passage at the beginning of the book of John. John 1:18 says, “No one has ever seen God;
the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.” Who is this person
who is at the Father side and who is God? Hebrews 1:2-4 has the answer, “In these last
days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through
whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact
imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making
purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” And if that
wasn’t clear enough, Hebrews 4:14 removes any shadow of a doubt that this high priest,
this Son of God, is in fact Jesus – “We have a great high priest who has passed through
the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God.”
These verses make it plain that Jesus is the one at the Father’s side, Jesus is the Son of
God, Jesus is God, and Jesus is the one who reveals the Father. Amen.
